Washrooms, bathrooms, powder rooms. The loos in our customer’s homes have been working double time since the pandemic started. No more showers at the gym or kids away at university. Everyone - all home - almost all of the time. Bathroom spaces that were designed for pre-pandemic families no longer have the design features to support a hectic household’s needs.
We’ve been busy working with some incredibly creative families with a passion for making life easier by creating spaces to suit their changing needs. One of the trends has been the evolving bathroom. With kids home more, adult children returned to the nest and parents working from home, inevitably our customer’s bathrooms have been doing double duty. We’ve noticed they’ve also changed in functionality. A traditional powder room on the main floor no longer only serves as a pretty space for guests. It may be the only washroom available with a full house and needs to be able afford the necessary storage. With showers in gyms or offices being closed, there are line-ups at home for a nice steam.
Some things to consider in transforming your restroom.
Style. Bathrooms can be pretty, funky, trendy or even manly if that’s how you roll. We’ve seen it all and are bursting with ideas. There’s also lots of inspiration that can be found online through sites like Pinterest and Houzz.
Functionality. Consideration should be given to the needs of the user including the correct type of storage.
Versatility. The pandemic won’t be forever. Create a design with the versatility to easily transform for your bathroom’s future uses.
